Boer goats
along with Satin and
Mini Rex
rabbits in SW Nebraska

Welcome to Raines Ranch.... our lil peice
of the good life with goats, rabbits
We are located in the panhandle of Nebraska.
Currently we have 7 Nubian does, 2 full Nubian bucks, 2 Nigerian Dwarf does and 1 Nigerian Dwarf buck and
we're going on our forth year raising Boer X does!! We have
3 Boer does. All three are traditional redheads.
Yep, we like variety, it is the spice of life !! We breed
mainly for milk (udder
attachment , teat placement and nice handles are a
major priority for us),disposition, mothering
abilities (we like our does to be capable of dam raising
whenever possible), breed character, well balanced body and
last, but not least, color (pretty colors and
patterns are *ALWAYS* fun!!).We are proud
to be a member of AGS (The American Goat Society) ,our
herd is registered under the name Raines Ranch .We
register our dairy goats with them whenever possible, but
we do occasionally breed some grades for families that dont
care about papers and just want a good family milker .We
also have some does and bucks duel registered with ADGA
(American Dairy Goat Association) but we do not
have a current membership with ADGA, mainly due to
their support with NAIS. We are also proud members of
The International Nubian Breeders Association. We do test
for CAE and all of our does and bucks are current and Neg!!

I am looking at possibly doing owner sampling with DHIR this next year (2010). I have been wanting to do milk test I just didn't have anyone
close by that would be available to ladle and send out tests
for me. But with owner sampling I will only need to have someone come out once for a verification test
. If all goes as planned I will set up a page
for the results and post them monthly also.
Along with our goats we also raise rabbits. Mainly for 4-H
and meat pens. But we do have pedigreed Mini Rex's just for fun and showmanship! We currently have 4
Satin does, 1 white, 1 Siamese , 1 Blue Tort (yeas, I know its not a recognized color but she sure is a nice doe!) and one broken black.
Two
Satin bucks, one black (he's a blue carrier), and one siamese . One Mini Rex buck, broken black and 4 mini Rex does, one blue Tri Harlequin , one solid black and two broken black.
While our Satins have very short pedigrees, the Mini Rex's are pedigreed and have been shown in some ARBA shows as well. The Mini Rex buck got BOB and BOV and the broken black Mini Rex doe has a couple of legs.

Along with our goats we also have.....
Our kids (meaning people kids!) are very involved with the
animals and showing them at county fair, the three oldest
girls (Miranda, Bailey, and Kassidy) are enrolled in the local 4-H club,
the Bunker HillBillies and our youngest and only boy , Brody , enjoy's showing his favorites in the open class
division. Not to say that he isn't dieing to be old enough for 4-H now that all the girls are! LOL
