Raines Ranch Nubians & Boers

CAE Negitive Nubian and Boer goats in SW Nebraska

Chickens,Chickens, everywhere!

We have a "thing" for chickens! We order every year from Murray McMurray hatchery, they have the best selection and quality I have found so far, plus they offer great discounts on assortments.

All of the kids show chickens at fair ,be it 4-H show or open class (depending on they're age). So we like them to be nicely feathered and getting ready to lay by the first of July.

~*~Breeds we have~*~

We have quite a variety of diffrent breeds in our little flock. To name a few, we have Araconas, Buff Orpingtons , Bluff Rocks, Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds,Speckled Sussex, Barred Rocks, a few bantams, Black, white, partridge and buff Cochins, and many many more. Last year we  ordered a rainbow collection of 25 hatchery choice pullets, plus 5 Buff Laced Polish, 5 Brown single comb Leghorns and more green egg layers (one of our favorites...we love the colored eggs!).
Its funny how you can never get bored with chickens, every year we order in January, and every febuary 1st (give or take a day) we are running to town to the post office to pick up our boxes of chicks at around 6:00 am! I really like buying the collections because I think half the fun is watching them feather out and trying to figure out what breeds they are!

We pretty much order in with Murray McMurry for a Febuary  delivery. Of   course we had to order more  Aruacana/Americana "easter egg" chicks, along with specialty birds for 4-H show and such.

Welcome
